Hola – short and sweet media fix for this week (I figured I would skip the playlist since every she-bomb writer made one last week!) highlighting some of my favorite (and least favorite) television advertisement campaigns. Now we all hate advertisements, especially when they seem to equal the length of time that our favorite show is actually aired.
But, in addition to the added luxury of a netflix account, I have found it possible to take a certain enjoyment in those particular commercials that actually do a great job of conveying something hilarious in a teeny tiny time slot. Here are some of my favorites, contrasted with a different company failing tremendously at selling the same product:
Phone Service:
Wrong:
Had potential, if only that women didn’t have the screaming capabilities of a wild banshee. Try turning your back on the TV and hearing that coming at you from the kitchen. Not fun.
Right:
Awkward dancing alone – always funny
Enticing Male Scents
Wrong:
Echhhhhh. I’m not even sure if this is the one I want but you know the type of ad – the one where some average looking dude puts on some spray and all the sudden he is bombarded by every hot girl in the world. Stu-pid.
Right:
If they have to make advertisements that grossly over-stereotype men, they might as well do it with a hilarious dude who does it so over the top that it doesn’t even bother me.
Car Insurance:
Wrong:
Boring, unclear, and frankly quite a bit creepy. With the miriad of spokespeople (the caveman, the gecko, that guy in front of the curtain) Geico employs, I think they could have ditched this guy.
Right:
The Mayhem commercials are THE funniest advertisements on television. Because they are so funny, I’ll give you one more:
Thats all for now folks. :)
